The Kinmen District Prosecutors Office, in conjunction with the Agency Against Corruption under the Ministry of Justice, is investigating a Kinmen County councilor surnamed Hung for allegedly violating the Government Procurement Act and the Anti-Corruption Act by profiting from corruption. Following long-term monitoring by a special task force, a search was conducted on May 13, 2026, and the defendant, Councilor Hung, his son, and relevant witnesses were summoned. After an overnight interrogation, the prosecutor determined that the father and son were highly suspected of the aforementioned crimes and posed a risk of collusion. The following day (May 14), a request was made to the Kinmen District Court in Fujian Province for their detention and incommunicado confinement, which was granted. Subsequently, after the special task force actively retrieved and analyzed other procurement case files, a second wave of investigations was conducted yesterday and today to clarify the procurement cases handled by the two defendants during the period in question.

The Kinmen District Prosecutors Office urges all public officials and elected representatives to strictly abide by laws and regulations, maintain integrity, and refrain from favoritism, corruption, or seeking illegal gains. The office will continue to uphold the principles of "investigating all reported cases, prosecuting all those with evidence, and ensuring no one is wrongly accused or let off the hook," rigorously investigating all types of corruption and illegal activities to safeguard public integrity and the rule of law in the country.
