On March 23, 2016, the police received a missing person report and found the body of a missing person, surnamed Wang, in Beigan Township, Lienchiang County. The body was found abandoned in the bushes. The police took the matter very seriously and immediately dispatched Chief Prosecutor Yang Yi-yun to direct the Lienchiang County Police Bureau to investigate. They quickly and intensively carried out investigations and collected evidence. They also requested the Forensic Institute of the Ministry of Justice to send a forensic doctor to conduct an autopsy on Sunday, March 29, to clarify the cause of death. On the day of the autopsy, they immediately initiated a care mechanism for the victim Wang's family. Subsequently, a knife used in the crime was seized, and the suspect was identified. After Chief Prosecutor Yang questioned the defendant yesterday (March 8), he believed that the defendant was suspected of serious intentional homicide, and there was a risk of colluding with witnesses, destroying evidence, and fleeing. Moreover, the crime was a serious crime with a minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment. The court granted the request for detention and prohibition of visits.
